The amount of rugby being played at the weekend meant it was very easy to miss key moments. Thankfully, the Citizen Try of the Week series produces the best tries from the Aviva Premiership, and round 6 served up some scorchers!
It was a weekend of frantic running rugby in England and one which saw a number of titanic head-to-heads. Having not had the best start to the season, both Harlequins and Northampton needed a win, but it was Quins who came out on top, helped by a superb on-debut try from Alofa Alofa.
Jersey-born winger come centre Matt Banahan’s fantastic form continued as Bath cruised to a 30-3 victory over Sale. Banahan cut a beautiful line after a frenetic build up to cross for the try.
The best solo try of the weekend though came from Leicester’s Telusa Veainu. The Tongan international side-stepped his way past innumerable defenders on his way to the line, lighting up the Welford Road faithful as his team beat Worcester 34-13.
There were other tries for Gloucester’s Ben Morgan and Josh Bassett as Wasps’ unbeaten run came to an end against Saracens.
With the European Champions and Challenge Cups just round the corner, England’s clubs are finding their form at just the right time.
What do you think of the featured tries, and how will the English teams fair in Europe this year?
