Gloucester loose forward Ruan Ackermann has revealed to his followers on Instagram that he was robbed at gunpoint yesterday.
The 24-year-old is currently on holiday in his native South Africa, and shared this statement on his Instagram story:
“Hello everyone, Had a bad experience yesterday! Got hijacked and gun pointed. Everything stolen. Grateful for the blessing of God that kept Us safe. If anyone needs me just DM me.”
Ackermann, whose father is Gloucester head coach Johan Ackermann, is yet to give any more details as to what has happened to him other than the Instagram post.
Most importantly, he said that he, and whoever he was with, is safe.
Gloucester have two more weeks before they play again in the Gallagher Premiership, which is why some players have used this as an opportunity to take a break.
