Springbok star Ox Nche has denied personally hearing from prospective new clubs despite recent rumours surrounding a big-money move to France that would see him exit the Sharks.
Just recently, RugbyPass’ Neil Fissler reported that the giant loosehead prop was willing to leave the Sharks, opening the gate to interest from abroad. The report from RugbyPass read:
‘Sources in South Africa say that the Sharks are 50/50 on whether or not they can keep him and that French clubs, who are busy making their recruitment plans, have been alerted to his willingness to move.’
Speaking to the publication, Rapport, Nche has not denied the suggestion that he is open to a move, but suggested that his agent will be dealing with any enquiries, saying: “I haven’t heard anything from any club yet,
“I asked my agent about it and he said that I should just leave it to him.”
This has indicated to many that the door is certainly ajar, but no active decisions have been made as of yet.
“Until there is something on paper”, Ox continued, “there is nothing for me to worry about, but I am comfortable with staying in South Africa.”
The talented number one put in a mighty performance at the weekend, despite the Springbok’s loss to Argentina, with this reporter rating the player as the major shining light in an otherwise stuttering side.
Ox Nche vs Argentina: 9.5/10 – ‘Stick him in the backs and he’d put a shift in there. Solid in the scrum, and deadly with ball in hand. Deserved to be on the winning side. A colossal performance.’
