The trio of All Blacks selectors, namely Ian Foster, Jason Ryan, and Joe Schmidt, have unveiled the lineup for their upcoming match against South Africa at Twickenham on Friday.
The selected match day 23, boasting a collective experience of over 1000 Tests on the international stage, have been entrusted with the formidable task of facing off against the reigning world champions. This match serves as a pivotal step in the lead-up to the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
The starting forward pack possesses an impressive total of more than 500 Test caps, with both experienced and semi-experienced players filling up the front 8. Luke Jacobson is poised to earn his 15th Test cap when he will occupy the number six jersey and form an integral part of the loose forward trio alongside the All Black captain, Sam Cane, and the dynamic Ardie Savea.
Anticipation is running high as a capacity crowd of nearly 82,000 fervent fans is expected to witness this showdown, which will be the first encounter between the All Blacks and South Africa at Twickenham since their gripping clash in the 2015 Rugby World Cup semi-final.
“This is our final game before the Rugby World Cup and this test is critical in our preparation,” said head coach Ian Foster. “With just two weeks to go, it’s an important opportunity to get us battle-ready for the start of the tournament.
“These games are always intense and physically challenging, and I’m sure this one will be no different.”
