This is a quick look at what happened to lock Bakkies Botha in last weekend’s 32-23 Toulon victory over Racing Metro in the Top 14. Botha, renowned as one of the toughest men in world rugby, had to leave the field with a horribly fractured, and clearly bent, finger. He didn’t look too bothered.
According to a recent Daily Telegraph report, despite being in his final season of rugby, Botha is currently ninth on the list of the highest paid players in the world, earning £389 000 per year.
Perhaps hardly grimacing or even acknowledging seething pain is in his contract.
