Bloemfontein’s Toyota Cheetahs have drawn the short straw in South African Rugby as of late.
Following the transition from the Pro14 to the United Rugby Championship the Cheetahs and Eastern Province Kings found themselves on the outside looking in.
In order to maintain their position as competitive entity outside of the Currie Cup, the Free State side have been playing several different exhibition style fixtures.
Ranging from their upcoming clash with the Emerging Ireland side to the Toyota Challenge clash with the Blue Bulls
It is this Toyota challenge fixture where perhaps one of the most bizarre incidents to ever take place on a rugby pitch took place.
Making a deep break from a clean line-out, the Bulls centre Chris Smit made some sublime silky moves as he crossed for a brilliant try.
What wasn’t so brilliant was how when in the process of conducting an exuberant dive he hit his head on the ground with serious force.
This force knocked the centre out cold and has landed him in a concussion protocol as well as making him an internet sensation!
