Irish United Rugby Championship side Connacht have had just about the worst possible start to their season following two heavy defeats.
In their defence both losses have come at the hands of two of the competition’s best sides in the tournament in Ulster and the Stormers.
Today’s loss will sting as Andy Friend’s side were very much in the contest until a rather silly clear-out attempt from one of their most experienced campaigners.
A physical beast and on his day world class, Bundee Aki has a propensity for the odd head scratching moment and this was certainly one of them.
Away from the clearly dangerous attempt it was his verbal assault on the referee is what could ultimately have him in hot water.
As he was being shown the red card, Aki approached the referee saying “”Where do you want me? Where do you want me to clear?”
That Bundee Aki red card 🟥
Had plenty of time to size up that clear-out but got it wrong

🟥 for Bundee Aki
Was looking like a Tom Farrell try but TMO went back for a clear-out on Senatla
“Direct contact to the head and high degree of danger,” says referee
Then he argues it. Get off the pitch, man!

Whatever your feelings on a decision, that’s not v professional from Bundee Aki. Perhaps that’s the point at which a captain needs to step in to descalate🤷♀️
