This week sees the launch of the unique new #RugbyFit Experiment campaign with Canterbury, whereby we’ve got a rugby team – mentored by Dylan Hartley – taking on the challenge from website Rugby Lad, who have Robbie Henshaw on their side.
Over the course of a few weeks, both teams will be put through their paces by top level fitness coaches, preparing for a big final encounter between the two sides in September.
The collaboration between Canterbury and Rugbydump will feature the two amateur teams taking part in the Rugby Fit Experiment, with our team being English based, and the Rugby Lad team from Ireland.
The intense 4-week training programme – led by Adventure Athlete Ross Edgley – will get the players #RugbyFit for the start of the new season, as well as prepare them for their big match.
We will post regular updates, bringing you up to speed on their progress, while England skipper Dylan Hartley also does his bit to support the team.
Training will include: Strength (week 1), Flexibility (week 2), Speed (week 3), and Agility (week 4). Each team will undergo training and challenges led by their expert.
Week 1 is initiation week, as the guys met Ross and Dylan and were briefed on the campaign.
Ross tests their explosive speed with a 20m sprint from a flat press up start, and then reverse into bear crawl back to the start. This tests the boys speed, agility and power.
The training regime can be followed via Canterbury’s Hub
