The regular season table-topping Chiefs have turned up in a big way in the second half of the Super Rugby final.
Trailing the Crusaders 15 – 10 at halftime, the Chiefs have come out swinging to take a 20 – 15 lead with fifteen minutes to play.
To fore have been stars Damian McKenzie, Shaun Stevenson and Emoni Narawa, who combined for a sublime try that put the Chiefs in front.
From a midfield scrum, McKenzie shifted the play to create a moment of hesitation in the Crusaders’ defensive line.
That split-second decision saw the Chiefs pour through, with Alex Nankivell hitting the line at pace to feed an onrushing Shaun Stevenson.
Seemingly having all the time in the world on the ball, Stevenson sucked in four Crusaders defenders before feeding Narawa, who left his opposite man Leicester Fainga’anuku in his wake.
Shaun Stevenson is once again pushing his case for an @allblacks spot.
Seemingly has so much time on the ball whilst sucking in three Crusaders’ defenders to create space on the outside to set up Emoni Narawa for a game-breaking try.#CHIvCRU #SuperRugbyPacific #SuperRugby pic.twitter.com/6qau7b1SOo
