Exeter Chiefs have made an announcement on the future of Henry Slade this morning, but the problem is…no one can quite work out what the news is.
Taking to social media, Chiefs have released a video thanking the 31-year-old for his years of service to the club in which Slade talks about ‘looking forward to seeing what the club does in the future’.
Titling the video, simply: “Thank you Henry”, the information then provided in the video has led to fans pure confusion. The video reads:
“Exeter Chiefs where do I even begin?
“It’s been 12 years since I made my debut, but I knew right from the start that I wanted to give everything to this club.
“The experiences I’ve had since then have been the stuff of dreams. I’ve won and lost, experienced heartbreak and elation, shoulder to shoulder with teammates who’ve become lifelong friends, and I’ve started my own family here.
“I was born and bred in Devon but I’ve traveled the globe coming up against the world’s top players, I’ve lifted the Champions cup, won two premiership titles and an LV cup.
“I’ve had the honor of representing my country alongside my club teammates. To have pulled on the red rose for England is a dream come true and one that would never have been possible without the help of my Chiefs brothers.
“This club is like no other. Running out of Sandy Park in front of such a loyal, vocal and passionate crowd is always a privilege, and one that I’ve never taken for granted. I’ll be eternally grateful for all of your support.
“I’ve played with and learned from so many great players that have come through our changing room over the years, and I take great pride in thinking I may have begun to have that impact on some of the young players here today.
“This really is a special Chiefs squad, they have the desire talent and ability to reach the very top and I’m excited to see the journey they go on.”
