Santiago Chile played host to the first of two leg Rugby World Cup qualifying tie between the hosts and the USA.
The USA emerged with a narrow 22 – 21 victory in what can only be described as biblical weather.
Despite the pitch resembling more of a swamp, both sides played some highly entertaining and attractive rugby.
No moment stands out more than Chile flyhalf Rodrigo Fernandez’s individual piece of brilliance!
Collecting a clearing kick from deep in his own half, Fernandez scored a try for the ages as he showed a clean pair of heels to tie the USA defence in knots.
With one leg to go, should Chile be able to beat the USA they will qualify for their first ever Rugby World Cup.
They say you can’t play running rugby in wet conditions… 😮
They were wrong.pic.twitter.com/uYRGW21jgi
