Christian Wade was back at it on Friday evening with yet another individual piece of magic, converting a try without handling the ball from all of 85 metres.

The Gloucester speedster pounced on the bouncing ball just in front of his own tryline, booting it ahead as he raced the Scarlets defence to collect. The ball, having collided with the defending Chris Harris’ head to present Wade with the opportunity, was now bouncing towards the halfway line, with the former British and Irish Lion in hot pursuit. A remarkable three fly hacks later and the ball was over the line for an unlikely touchdown, with Wade only getting his hands in the ball to slap it down.

The try capped a wonderful team performance from the Cherry and Whites, who defeated their visitors 31-7 to take the bonus point.
After the match, Gloucester head coach George Skivington spoke to the press, saying: “The boys’ attitude was brilliant, especially in defence and the breakdown that ultimately won us the game. Even the try at the end came from a massive defensive set. There were some good tries in there and we were accurate in their 22. They had a huge amount of possession in our 22 and we largely managed to hold them out.”
Wade’s NFL journey:
Well before Louis Rees-Zammit broke Welsh hearts with his journey into the NFL, Wade took his own. The speedster started his time over in America in incredible fashion scoring a 65-metre touchdown for the Buffalo Bills in their 2019 pre-season game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite coming ‘all the way from England,’ the talented player’s NFL journey didn’t quite work out, and in 2022, Wade swapped American Football for Rugby, joining French side Racing 92 where he enjoyed a semi-successful period before returning to the Gallagher Premiership with Gloucester Rugby.
