Last week a stunning try was scored in New Zealand schoolboy rugby as Southland upset Otago, and now we’ve got another scorcher to watch, this time from Christ’s College. The special thing about this try is that it features two brothers, with one in particular making an unbelievable pass as he head to the turf.
The ball gets stripped by Dallas Mcleod then the skipper broke away but got tripped up before flinging an outrageous pass to younger brother and eventual tryscorer, Isaiah Punivai.
The interplay, the crowd and the commentators all came together nicely for another thoroughly enjoyable try, showing yet again that the depth of talent in New Zealand rugby runs deep.
Great work from Sky Sport NZ to not only film, but get clips like this uploaded so the rugby world can also enjoy them. For those of you who enjoy seeing it, below is also the prematch Haka challenge, featuring both Christ’s College but before that, Christchurch Boys High.
Despite this great try, Christchurch Boys won the match 32-11, extending their run of domination over Christs to 16 straight victories, extending back to 2000.
“At least we scored a try… it’s the first time we’ve seen a try in the five years,” one of the Christ’s students told Stuff.co.nz. And what a special try it was.
