Toulouse got a 35-5 hiding on the road as Clermont treated their home fans to a powerful performance at the Stade Marcel Michelin, edging them closer to the summit of the Top 14 table. There are now just seven rounds left in the league season.
With 14 players out of this match on Six Nations duty with France, Clermont came out convincing winners despite Toulouse scoring their solitary try in the first quarter.
David Skrela was on fine form with the boot, kicking seven penalties and a conversion against his former teamates and employers.
A try to center Gonzalo Canale extended their lead in the second half, before Toulouse had one last throw of the dice with time up, only to have winger Brent Russell snatch an intercept, which replacement number ten Brock James duly converted, adding salt to the Toulouse wounds.
