In this, the latest instalment of Bhubesi Pride Foundation’s Rugby in Africa 2016 expedition, we see the team coaching in Namibia and South Africa, featuring Joe Schmidt and Maggie Alphonsi.
Bhubesi Pride Foundation has been leading community rugby development missions in Africa since 2012. ‘Rugby in Africa 2016’ (the name given to each year’s program) is their biggest expedition to-date.
Comprising 38 volunteer coaches (‘Pride members’) from 14 different countries, male and female aged between 18 and 60, this year’s mission has ventured through nine African countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.
This video, shot in Namibia and South Africa, is the final instalment in their 2016 expedition, featuring some awesome rugby, great team camaraderie, heartfelt sentiments shared, and cameos from Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt and former England Rugby star Maggie Alphonsi.
If you’re 25 or older and interested in joining the charity’s 2017 expedition, you can apply through the website and join for 3 weeks or more, between February and September. But be quick, the 2017 trip is almost full already!
