Mac Hansen has been superb for the Irish since making his debut against Wales in Ireland’s opening encounter of the 6 Nations. The Australian born winger has also been a standout in the Ultimate Rugby Championship for Connacht.
Connacht have now signed another young Australian winger with Irish ancestry, Byron Ralston. Ralston was in great form for the Western Force in 2021 with 8 appearances to his name. However, he has since fallen out of favour at the Western Force this season due two new signings. Former Crusader’s winger Manasa Mataele and former Brumbies and Chiefs winger Toni Pulu. As a result Ralston hasn’t seen any Super Rugby game time this season.
Nonetheless, Ralston appears to be a very good signing for Connacht and will add depth and speed to their outside back stocks. If he can display the sort of form Mac Hansen did upon his transfer from Super Rugby to the URC, an Ireland test debut may be just around the corner.
