Bordeaux-Begles and France star Damian Penaud is one of the very best finishers in professional rugby.
Scoring 36 tries across 53 test matches for Les Bleus, the 27-year-old is just two behind the all-time French record of 38 held by the iconic Serge Blanco.
In the Top 14, his record is also superb, with 68 (56 for Clermont and 12 for Bordeaux), which has him in 9th position all time.
Adding to this tally last weekend, Penaud pulled off one of the best finishes we are likely to see this season.
Chasing a well-balanced kick over the top of the defence by scrumhalf Maxime Lucu, Penaud still had plenty to do as he jostled with Toulouse winger Matthis Lebel.
Running at full speed, Penaud nudged the ball forward perfectly while shouldering Lebel and then outpacing his French international teammate.
From here, Penaud controlled the ball to ground it perfectly and secure the score.
The match itself was an all-time classic as Bordeaux held on to a 31 – 28 win in a match that saw some of truly exceptional tries.
Not to be outdone by his international teammate, fellow superstar Antoine Dupont set up a glitzy try for Lebel.
Running across the pitch, Dupont showed off his 7s chops as he drew seemingly the whole Bordeaux backline with him.
From here he popped one of the most ridiculous offloads imaginable for his winger to go in for a relatively easy try.
The win moves Bordeaux up to 3rd pace on the Top 14 table where they are now seven points behind Toulouse and ten behind league leaders Stade Francais.
