Dan Carter is one of the most well known and most decorated names in all of rugby, but even the greatest can still get nervous. Despite no longer playing in the famous black jersey of New Zealand, Carter is still fully involved in the world of rugby, and the pressure of the occasion has clearly not subsided for the great man.
Speaking on a private broadcast channel, Carter told fans “I’m so nervous I can’t sit still, I’ve just found myself pacing all around the hotel all day”, before adding “Game day baby doesn’t get any better than this”.
This will be the first time since Carter won the World Cup himself that the All Blacks find themselves in the final, and the former flyhalf is finding it hard to deal with.
“I don’t know why I’m so stressed about the rain”, he explained, “The All Blacks love to play with the ball in hand and that’s one thing that could be a bit of a disadvantage against a really strong physical Boks pack – is the weather.
“This game is going to come down to just two or three little key moments, really key moments in the game, normally near the end of the game, from the 65 minute mark. If we can execute and deliver in those moments, we’ve got this. Hopefully South Africa will finally lose their first ever World Cup final. What a record that is, they’re so strong”.
“May the best team win” he concluded.
