Black Ferns superstar Portia Woodman narrates this beautifully made video from Sky Sport NZ that aims to inspire young girls in New Zealand and around the world. The main message is that anything is possible and there is no better time than now to set ambitious goals and strive to achieve them.
A third generation New Zealand rugby international, Portia Woodman’s pedigree speaks for itself. Her performances on the field have done all the talking though and she is widely regarded as one of the best Women’s 7s players in the world.
She says that she always wanted to be the female version of Jonah Lomu, but now thanks to her success, young girls can follow in her footsteps, aiming to be the next Portia Woodman.
Currently in recovery from a horrific ruptured achilles tendon injury, Woodman does a great job of narrating this video titled DEAR LITTLE GIRL.
“I want you to know that what you can achieve will not be defined by the colour of your skin, by age, who you love, and by being a girl”
While women’s rugby fifteens and sevens continue to grow around the globe, this is a wonderful message and one that should serve as inspiration for many.
