Stormers winger Dillyn Leyds pulled off one of the passes of the decade yesterday as the Stormers beat the Chiefs 34-26 in a seven try thriller in Cape Town. The Chiefs themselves scored one of the best team tries you’ll see, but this pass in particular was out of this world.
Leyds, who spent time with the Western Force in 2014, was a prolific schoolboy rugby player with Bishops College. His highlights reel on youtube is well worth the watch, showing the kind of talent he displayed as a playmaker at a young age.
Now, still just 24-years-old, Leyds is forging a career for himself on the wing, and has had a great season so far. This pass, setting up a try for SP Marais, is arguably one of the best tryscoring passes we’ve seen in many a year.
It looked more like something out of an unrealistic rugby video game, as he somehow hit the target with a 20m reverse pass, from the ground. It was sensational play, in what was a brilliant game of rugby from both sides.
Also in round 7 action, the Sunwolves upset the Bulls, and Sonny Bill Williams made his return.
