Glasgow beat a second string Leinster side 30-6 in the Magners League yesterday, keeping them in the top four with play-off ambitions staying alive as a result. We had a request for this brutal blindside hit from Dominic Ryan on Chris Cusiter, so here it is.
Leinster hadnt won at Firhill since May 2006, but werent too bothered with changing that as they fielded an under strength side that did what they could to spoil things for the hosts, who were in search of a bonus point win. It resulted in no less than four Leinster players being yellow carded.
Glasgow scored three tries though through Bernardo Stortoni and Rob Dewey, the latter having scored twice. Dan Parks kicked three conversions and three penalties.
Shortly before halftime Glasgow scrumhalf Cusiter got smashed by loose forward Dominic Ryan, who came in for the blindside hit as the home side created a nice flowing move.
Cusiter stayed down for some time, while Ryan heading to the sin-bin for not rolling away after making the tackle. “That was the least enjoyable game that I have ever played,” said Cusiter after the match.
Leinster are guaranteed a top four finish already, and have their Heineken Cup semi-final coming up soon, hence the second string side. It was still a good win for Glasgow though, whose 5000 strong fans celebrated at the final whistle.
