South African superstar Eben Etzebeth has signed with a new club.
Toulon announced last weekend that superstar lock Eben Etzebeth will leave the club at the start of the new season. European giants Toulon, are three time winners of Europe’s most prestigious club competition the Champions Cup. However due to poor form this season, Toulon currently sit at 13th in the Top 14 table. Toulon are most certainly in a relegation battle unless they turn things around quickly. Only a few weeks ago, Toulon were last in the competition, following a win from newly promoted side Biarritz.
This morning, URC side The Sharks announced the signing of Etzebeth for the coming season. There were rumours of Etzebeth returning back to South Africa when the news broke he would be leaving the Top14 club last weekend.

Etzebeth had been missing from club and international duty for the past few months due to injury. He hadn’t played any rugby since last November when England beat South Africa in Twickenham. The final round of the Autumn Nations Series of 2021 was his most recent performance before making his Toulon return.
Toulon played Bordeaux Begles at home in a game that saw Toulon win narrowly 21 points to 18. In the final 10 minute Bordeaux made a comeback, scoring a try with 5 minute left to play. However the game ended on a sour note with a player from each side being red carded. This game marked Etzebeth’s return following injury.
