South African Rugby’s most capped player of all time Eben Etzebeth has long been regarded as one of the best leaders in professional rugby.
Since making his professional debut in 2012, the 33-year-old has gone on to win two Rugby World Cups, a British and Irish Lions Series and two Rugby Championship titles.
Thus it is unsurprising that many players in South Africa look up to Etzebeth as a figure of strength.
Taking this one step further, Springbok scrumhalf Grant Williams who is a teammate of Etzebeth’s at URC side the Hollywoodbets Sharks appears to have an even more intimate relationship with the burly lock.
Whilst Bok fans have made the joke that Etzebeth has been the ‘daddy’ of many international forwards over the years, the Sharks players feel like this might just be the case with Williams.
Marching through the Sharks changing rooms searching for the rapid scrumhalf, Etzebeth can be seen pushing a stroller shouting out for Williams.
Of course, it will take more than a standard stroller to catch Williams who might just be the fastest player in professional rugby.
Nevertheless, Etzebeth who recently became a father himself now looks to have taken the step to adopt Williams in a heart warming move that goes above and beyond the standards required of a teammate.
