Etzebeth made his return to Toulon last Saturday, and many spectators noticed a kit malfunction during the game.
Etzebeth had been missing from club and international duty for the past few months due to injury. He hadn’t played any rugby since last November when England beat South Africa in Twickenham. The final round of the Autumn Nations Series of 2021 was his most recent performance before making his Toulon return.
Toulon played Bordeaux Begles at home in a game that saw Toulon win narrowly 21 points to 18. In the final 10 minutes Bordeaux made a comeback, scoring a try with 5 minute left to play. However the game ended on a sour note with a player from each side being red carded.
A lot of the talk online came from the return of superstar Etzebeth to the field. The 30 year old played the full 80 minutes on his return. An image of Etzebeth went viral of him with his jersey half torn off in the middle of the game.
Toulon are currently second last on the Top 14 table, with this win edging them past Biarritz. Toulon however, at this stage of the season are very much in a relegation battle unless they can turn things around very soon.

The club also confirmed over the weekend that Etzebeth is set to leave the french giants at the end of the season. His next destination has not yet been confirmed. However, it has been reported that he could sign with South African URC franchise, the Sharks.
Eben Etzebeth made his return to action after a three-month break and helped Toulon claim a crucial victory in the French Top 14 this past weekend.
