Flyhalf Elton Jantjies and Springbok nutritionist Zeenat Simjee have been stood down by the Bok set-up following alleged misconduct.
Whilst investigations are underway, the pair are accused of leaving the squad to carry out an affair in a removed hotel.
Having made headlines in South Africa throughout the week, the pairs alleged affair has rocked the Boks preparations ahead of their crunch test against Argentina.
On a personal level the two returned home to deal with the fallout from the reports.
Jantjies who has remained silent for the most part has now posted a cryptic message on social media.
“I prefer to distance myself whenever I’m mad to calm my mind otherwise I become the most heartless person you’ll ever meet.” He said.
South African Rugby took the decision to send the pair home to deal with the issue at hand. Releasing the following statement.
“The Springbok management are aware of reports regarding Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies and team dietician Zeenat Simjee between the training camp in Sabie and the Test match against New Zealand in Mbombela earlier this year.”
“No team protocols were breached, but the individuals are returning to South Africa to attend to these personal reports and to eliminate any distractions to the team’s preparations for the Test against Argentina.”
Already under pressure for his place in the Bok set up, this latest development could have long term implications for Jantjies international ambitions.
