Wood spent 12 years at the East Midlands club, achieving 240 appearances in his time. He was a powerful defensive player known for his high tackle rates and his ability to slow rucks down, stopping the opposition from getting quick ball.
It was these skills, alongside his terrific lineout work, that enabled the 6 ft 5 inch back-rower to earn half a century of caps for England.
Wood announced his retirement from rugby in June 2022, before returning to face his former team in the terrifically entertaining exhibition match in November.
