As the old saying goes injuries are part and parcel of playing Rugby.
A fact that England sevens star Alex Davies knows only too well. Davies and his England teammates have been gearing up for upcoming commonwealth games in Birmingham.
In a rather inconspicuous incident, Davies can be seen getting ready to jump for a high ball before collapsing in a heap.
Video footage of his ankle post the incident is not for the squeamish as it resembled a body part you’d expect to see on a zombie.
The incident took place a mere eleven days before the start of the tournament and as such very few gave Davies even the slimmest of chances of making it.
In a great behind the scenes piece, fans get to see the effort Davies put in to rehabbing. Admittedly the video is a tiny snapshot of the hard work, dedication and belligerence not to miss out that Davies and the medical staff put in.
No doubt being a professional rugby player is the dream of thousands of boys and girls around the world. Seeing the hard work these players put in on a daily basis to even be ready to take the pitch should highlight just how tough of a career it actually is.
The comments section had some great remarks as fans paid tribute to Davies’s resilience.
“That’s some Alun Wyn level return. Unreal.” One said.
“Footballer would still be fixing his hair and crying looking at the screen to see if he was famous for 5 minutes.” Another remarked.
One remark that summed up the whole incident was simply one word, “Warrior”.
