Maverick fly half, Finn Russell, is making headlines again today as it’s confirmed that he will be joining Premiership side Bath.
Russell has spent the past four years playing in the Top 14 for French giants Racing 92. He formed a formidable back line alongside the likes of Gael Fickou, Teddy Thomas, Simon Zebo and Kurtly Beale among others, which allowed his natural playmaking style to flourish.
Currently in his fifth season with the French outfit, Russell will be moving to the west of England to link up with Bath after the 2023 World Cup.

Russell had the following to say about his upcoming transition:
“To be able to join such a historic, well-supported club is really exciting.
“I know players at Bath who speak highly of the environment, and the direction the club is going in is something I want to be a part of.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at Racing 92 and I’ve learned a lot. Now is the right time for a new challenge, in a new league, with the aim of moving Bath back to the top end of the Premiership and competing for domestic and European titles.”
Bath have seen a huge transition over the past couple of years, with many of their older more experienced players moving overseas, making way for their academy players to make the jump up to Premiership level. The change in guard has not come easy however, with results going against them more often than not in a challenging couple of seasons.
The introduction of former Munster coach, Johann van Graan, taking the helm has seen a slow but sure improvement of fortunes for the historical English side.
These young players who were once rookies, are now proving to be able to play at the highest levels. Individuals such as Cameron Redpath and the likes of Joe Cokanasiga have shown much promise, resulting in further international caps.
The introduction of 30 year old Russell at the peak of his powers will no doubt prove to be an important signing for Bath, as the Scotsman will bring all his experience and intuition into a squad looking to learn and develop.
Bath fans in particular have been overwhelmed by the news.
On Instagram ‘Billiondollarbroker’ said “warm welcome to the greatest club in England @finnrussell92”.
‘Goodmanbenny’ added “Great addition, Graan really is putting together a good squad for next season”.
One Bath fan we spoke to in particular, Tom Hartley, described the signing as “pretty decent”.
Cheers Tom.
