Scotland centre Duncan Taylor received a yellow card for a deliberate knock on against Ireland during Saturday’s Autumn Nations Cup match in Dublin.
The Saracens player rushed up on Bundee Aki and killed a dangerous Irish attack late in the first half, but after referring to the TMO referee Matthew Carley sent Taylor to the sin bin.
Fans and former players have expressed their disbelief at the decision which ultimately helped Ireland to a 31-16 win at the Aviva Stadium. Full match highlights as well as the reaction to Taylor’s yellow card are available below:

That’s an abysmal decision to yellow card Duncan Taylor. Really, really poor.

Didn’t even go for the ball… what’s Duncan Taylor meant to do…. no yellow for me. #IREvSCO

Pundits saying Duncan Taylor’s “deliberate knock-on” might have been a penalty but not a yellow are talking crap. Either it’s a deliberate knock-on and, because of the attacking position, a yellow. Or it’s not deliberate and therefore simply a scrum. I err towards the latter.

Harsh on Duncan Taylor #IREvSCO

How can they say Duncan Taylor deliberately knocker that on? Think that’s harsh. Let alone a yellow card for it. #IREvSCO

That was never a yellow card on Duncan Taylor , he’s come in with his arms stretched to tackle the player and he’s threw it at his arm what’s he supposed to do ? Well played Scotland we can still win this , same again.

Duncan Taylor’s yellow was very harsh. He was in the motion of tackling and didn’t have an outstretched arm hanging there, like Willemse’s “knock on” in the 6N

How is the tackle a deliberate knock on from Duncan Taylor??? Much more of an influence on the game!!!!

Really harsh for Duncan Taylor there. Looked to me like he was going in for the tackle as Ireland shipped the tackle. @ScotRugbyBlog

Though it was a crap call to bin Duncan Taylor, for it to affect Scotland for almost the next 50 minutes was worrying. Great start but the repeated mental lapses after the yellow let Ireland off the hook. Overall a poor result and performance.
