This weekend, Stuart Hogg once again found himself on the wrong side of the headlines. Footage released from Toulouse’s win over Montpellier in the Top 14 on Saturday has shown the 32-year-old getting involved in an altercation with Thomas Ramos and a ball boy.
Just two weeks ago it was reported that the former Scotland star had been arrested for the third time this year following yet another case of “stalking offences and breach of bail conditions.” Now, the former Scotland record try scorer has allowed his frustrations to overflow onto the pitch.
In the most recent instalment of the fullback’s fall from grace, footage has gone viral of Hogg forcibly pushing his French opposite number Thomas Ramos in the back. Such was the force of his exertion that Ramos went cascading into a nearby ballboy, flattening the voluntary youngster.
This altercation resulted in a major brawl, with Ramos coming straight back at the aggressor before an all-out 15 vs 15 scuffle broke out.

Fans have called out Hogg for his actions, with many suggesting a more serious suspension should follow the incident. Phillip H Tagami said on X: “Shame and suspension! This not soccer muppet ! what a freaking embarrassment- Egg”.
Jerry Gallo added: “For senior internationals …….. unacceptable game doesn’t need that thuggery. Please make an example @WorldRugby we have young kids we are “selling” the game to.”
Tom L gave an interesting insight into the incident, noting: “Was there. Was clear from early on that Hogg was after Ramos… Totally stitched up early in the game being sidestepped after a kick chase and, as I was watching him closely, was clear he wanted to “get one” on Ramos from then onwards. Great player (was, anyway) but complete tool”.
Following the match, Ramos commented on the incident, stating that it was “slightly stupid” from him and his opponent.
Speaking to Canal+, he said: “We know how important points away from home can be, It was a slightly stupid incident from both us players. It’s not just because we’re not at home that we don’t show character. It shows the mentality of the whole team at the end of the match.”
