Joe Simmonds’ performance for Exeter Chiefs in Saturday’s Heineken Cup semi-final has led to a social media frenzy demanding his international call up.
The fly-half played a key role in the Chiefs’ win against Toulouse and scored a brilliant try at Sandy Park to help Exeter reach their first ever Heineken Cup final.

The 23-year-old has been in fine form since the game returned from lockdown and fans and pundits took to social media to suggest Simmonds should be playing international rugby.
Simmonds represented England U20s twice but is yet to make his full international debut under head coach Eddie Jones, but many believe his form is too good to be ignored. Full match highlights of Exeter’s win are available below as well as the reaction from Twitter:

If Joe Simmonds doesn’t get an England call up now then it’s clear Eddie Jones hates the Chiefs. #EXEvTOU

Brilliant performance from Joe Simmonds @joesimmo10 for @ExeterChiefs today. He’s their skipper and has developed into a quality player. Surely he’s piling on the pressure to be in Eddie Jones thoughts and the @EnglandRugby squad?

Joe Simmonds for England is surely an obvious move now.

Joe Simmonds the 2nd best English fly half for some time and by some way to all others @btsportrugby #ExevTou

And just a thought on Joe Simmonds. Captain of England’s leading club at 23, playing international-standard rugby and running the show like a seasoned veteran. Some talent.
