Fans are not happy about the proposed introduction of the 20 minute red card.
"A 20-minute red card merely papers over the cracks. It is totally wrong…"
– Nigel Owens has doubled down in a newspaper column on an opinion originally published in an exclusive RugbyPass interview last month.#Redcard #SuperRugbyPacific

It was confirmed on Tuesday that World Rugby are considering introducing the 20 minute red card into the game via a global law trial. After 20 minutes, the disqualified player can be tactically replaced by a substitute, according to the law, which is currently being trialed in Super Rugby Pacific.
Many coaches and supporters feel that the 20 minute red card is needed, as games can become a non-contest once a team is reduced to 14. Some fans feel the contest as a spectacle is ruined once a red card offence is committed.
Contrary to popular belief, I actually like the idea of the 20 minute red card. It does disrupt a team momentarily and the player responsible is penalised, but I’m also all for just teaching them how to tackle, but it can’t always be helped.

However, many fans have also conveyed their disliking to the 20 minute red card online. Check out what fans have to say down below.
The 20 minute red card is a nonsense!

The 20 minute red card is a No from me. We are at the grassroots of the game trying to convince parents to thrust us with their boys and girls to play this great game. Safety is paramount, Coaches have a duty of care to adhere to. Stop selecting the offenders. Safety first.

Ridiculous idea, if a member of your team does something that warrants a red card then your team should be at a disadvantage for the rest of the game.
The 20 minute red card is a complete cop out and ruins the spectacle for me

The rugby disciplinary process is broken…
World rugby can’t claim to care about player welfare until it’s fixed
They certainly can’t introduce a 20 minute red card until the ban process is fit for purpose. https://t.co/DYBfi5t9Oz

@WorldRugby Please don’t introduce a 20 minute red card for a high hit. It will ruin the game. What’s happening now is a positive adjustment and players will get used to going in lower as they will have to.

Referees aren’t deciding games, it’s the players who aren’t adhering to the new laws. Take some ownership.
He’ll feel totally different when this comes back and bites him.
The 20 minute red card is a farce, there’s no deterrent and penalty for the team who receives it— Owain Thorngate (@canoe1988) April 14, 2022
