Round 3 of the 2017 Rugby Championship kicks off this weekend. For those of you who are wrapped up in our Rugbydump fantasy league over at Rugbypass.com, it’s time to set your fantasy lineups. For those who may be on the fence, here’s a quick preview and some players to look out for.
As you know by now, you only get three transfers per round, so make your adjustments wisely.
Scrum Half
Steve Hansen has made several changes to face Argentina. You’ll need another scrum half option if you’ve counted on Aaron Smith thus far. Although TJ Perenara is a solid option, perhaps consider Will Genia instead. Genia is slightly less expensive and he’s averaging over 10 points per round.
Wing
Scoring machines Reiko Ioane and Ben Smith are out and will both need to be replaced. Nehe Milner-Skudder will cost a little extra, but one can assume he’s looking for a chance to make a statement having missed so much match-time through injury.
If you still need a winger, take a look at either Raymond Rhule or Courtnall Skosan. Both of the Springbok bolters offer a good value and are averaging close to 10 points each, with Rhule slightly edging Skosan.
Flanker
With three tries to his name, it’s hard not to recommend Siya Kolisi. As Sam Cane will be coming off the bench, it can’t hurt to give Kolisi or fellow Springbok flanker Jaco Kriel a start.
Hooker
If you’re fine with Dane Coles and think it’s about time for him to play like he’s fully capable, stick with him. Otherwise, Agustin Creevy has put in a solid championship thus far, averaging right at 8 points per round.
Centre
With Ryan Crotty side-lined, it may be time to pick up Anton Lienert-Brown. He has plenty of Test starts and should do well in his pairing with Sonny Bill Williams. Another solid option is a resurgent Kurtley Beale, who is averaging over 13 points.
One more friendly recommendation. If you haven’t made Beauden Barrett your captain and key man yet, now might be the time to make it happen. Those who have from the beginning certainly appreciate his 43 points in the first round and his 55 in the second.
As always, plan ahead and do plenty of research yourself. These are just a few names that seem to be in high gear at the moment. If all of this seems too obvious, don’t forget about the three-transfer limit that’ll be there to bite you. Strategize accordingly.
Good luck in round three. Go win those bragging rights.
