Former Olympic gold medalists Fiji strode through their opening match in Paris with a 28-point victory over challengers Uruguay this afternoon.
Their impressive victory in their first match of the Paris Olympics puts them in good stead as they look ahead to their mighty Pool C challengers, the USA and France. Their future rivals faced each other before Fiji’s appearance earlier, coming away as equals with nothing to separate the two sides.
Rugby players are often known for their brute strength and immense athleticism, with none coming more impressive than those who frequent the sevens circuit. The Fijians in particular have some of the finest specimens on the market. Just check this out:

Fiji’s Greatest – Waisale Serevi
Affectionately known as ‘the wizard’, he is often described as the greatest Rugby Sevens player of all time.
With multiple Player of the Tournament awards, Serevi was also the first-ever Fijian rugby player to be inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame.
The skills Serevi possessed, and the footwork to go alongside them made him almost impossible to play against.
Quite unusually Serevi was a player able to transfer his incredible sevens skills to the 15s game, appearing in a total of three Rugby World Cups for Fiji. He played 359 tournaments in the sevens game and turned out for the fifteen aside national team 39 times.
