An epic new compilation of Scotland fly half Finn Russell has been put together which showcases the sheer genius of the playmaker.
Russell is widely regarded as one of the biggest mavericks in the game and his skillset has sent stadiums crazy at both club and international level over recent years.
Russell’s incredible handling ability and kicking skills make him one of the world’s best fly-halves and in 2018 he became one of Europe’s highest paid players when he signed for Racing 92 from Glasgow Warriors.
The 28-year-old has 55 Scotland caps to his name and earlier this summer he came off the bench in the third Test of the British & Irish Lions series to earn his first cap for the touring side.
Russell’s 70 minutes in the final Test completely transformed the flow of the match and Lions and Wales legend Jamie Roberts appeared on the RugbyPass Offload podcast shortly afterwards to praise the Scotsman.
“I love the freedom he (Russell) plays with. He’s a classic anti-structure player. I’m sure he can play to structure but he plays what he sees and very rarely do we have outside-halves at Test level doing that,” said Roberts.
“Everything is quite a rigid game plan, and this guy comes on, his first action as the defence has come high is a little kick pass – which we haven’t seen the whole Lions series.
“Having the confidence to do that and back his skillset was pretty special, when the stakes are that high.”
This latest montage has been put together by YouTuber Andrew Forde and begins with Russell’s insane grubber kick against Munster in late 2019 which went through the legs of centre Rory Scannell and left even his own teammates in awe.
Also in the compilation is the pinpoint pass off his left hand at Murrayfield in the 2018 Six Nations which completely split open the English defence. Enjoy.
