Ireland AM host and former Irish international Rugby star Tommy Bowe has hit back at scammers.
Following a series of deep fake adverts appearing to show Bowe being arrested.
Whilst Bowe could see the funny side of the incident, he did warn people about interpreting the images as real.
Writing on his personal social media, Bowe joked, “Standard few c**k ups again today but don’t think I’m going to prison over it! Please don’t click #scam.”
The images of Bowe come in the wake of several Irish stars including Doireann Garrihy, Ryan Tubridy and Miriam O’Callaghan all having deep fakes produced.
Although the images are funny at face value, there was serious undertone with one advert claiming Bowe had been arrested by Northern Irish police.
The advert alleges that “He didn’t know the microphone was on, this might be an end to his career.”
Another advert named Bowe directly saying, “Tommy Bowe Bitcoin profit Late Late Show review 2023 – Scam or legit?”
To which Bowe responded “Apparently I was on The Late Late last week chatting to Tubs about Bitcoin. Don’t click the links.”
