In terms of iconic Premiership rugby players, former Namibia and Saracens stalwart Jacques Burger is among the greats to have graced England’s top league.
The backrow was a one-man wrecking crew capable of blowing up an opposition attack at any point with a big tackle or utter destruction of a ruck.
Playing 100 games for Sarries between 2010 and 2016, the 40 times-capped Namibian would win two Premiership titles and would be the London club’s player of the Year 2010/2011.
During those years, a burgeoning superstar was amongst the Saracens’ ranks as a young Owen Farrell made his debut for the club in 2008.
Taking the club to levels never seen before, Farrell is, without a doubt, the greatest player in club history. Thus, his rumoured departure from the club in favour of Top 14 side Racing 92 came as quite a surprise when it first broke.
To be clear, Farrell has yet to formally announce the move but this has not stopped the story from gathering momentum,
Adding more speculation to the rumoured move was a tweet from Burger today in which he praised Farrell’s time at Saracens.
I’ve played with Owen for a long time and i can tell you it’s always been a privilege. HEART,brilliant leader on the pitch and a great rugby brain. Thank you for all your contributions to @saracens over the years mate. @owen_faz #WOLFPACK 🐺

Two hours later, Burger would retweet saying he had not realised that the move had not been confirmed but said he felt the move would be a good one for Farrell.
I thought it’s been confirmed. Apologies. Anyway it would be a great career move if he does. Fresh start and quality time with his family. #makingmemories
