Former Springbok player stabbed multiple times and father shot by farm intruders

Former Springbok hooker Lukas van Biljon and his 70-year-old father Andre were reportedly attacked by six intruders.

Two of the six have since been arrested when other farmers were alerted to the attack and blocked the roads.

The 13-capped van Biljon was reported to have been stabbed three times in the chest and was warned that if he fought back his children who were tied up would be killed.

In the panic, Andre tried to make calls to fellow farmers on a radio but was spotted and shot three times in the hand and chest, he remains in critical condition in hospital.

The incident took place on the family farm in Oranjeville in the Free State Province at around midnight over the weekend.
