The organisers of the Autumn Nations Cup have confirmed that they have decided to award France a bonus point victory following last week’s cancellation of the fixture against Fiji.
The match was cancelled after five Fijians tested positive for covid-19
While Fiji has not been blamed for the fixture not taking place, the competition rules state that if a team is primarily responsible for a match not taking place, a 28-0 victory will be awarded to the team that could have played the match.
Therefore, France gets a bonus-point win, having never stepped foot on the field.
“We wish the affected Fiji players well as they continue their recovery and are working closely with the Fiji team, to ensure that they are able to field a competitive team against Italy,” said a statement.
“Further updates will follow once additional rounds of testing have been completed.”
France will travel to Scotland next.
