Hugely talented Leicester and England star, Freddie Steward, has committed his future to the Tigers, just days before he’s set to marshall the Dublin skies in the 2025 Six Nations opener against Ireland.
The unspecified deal continues the Derehem-born lad’s long history with the club, having once been a product of Tigers’ development pathways programme. The 24-year-old has said that playing for Leicester is “something I will never take for granted,” and is “hungry to contribute to the club’s success in the coming years.”
Steward made his first team debut in 2019 and has explained his decision to stay: “I am lucky to be able to call it my home. ” He added, “I want to be part of driving this club forward and feel a responsibility to do so.”
Leicester Tigers head coach Michael Cheika added: “It’s great news for the club to have Freddie signed on for the future.
“I’m sure there was plenty of interest in Fred outside of Leicester because his form this season so far has been outstanding.
“He’s a player who puts his all into everything he does. He puts his body on the line. I’m very happy he will be part of the club for the coming seasons.”
Steward will line up alongside George Martin, Ollie Chessum and Joe Hayes of Leicester Tigers on Saturday, as he looks to recoup the 15 shirt as his own for England in the absence of George Furbank.
