There’s just about time for one more posting today, and being as it’s Friday, it’s time for a funny. This one comes from New Zealand’s provincial championship, the ITM Cup and it took place last weekend in the opening round of the tournament.
It’s the game between Counties and Otago, the one that Tana Umaga made his comeback in. Highlights of the game can be seen
here on RD
. One of the tries, the one scored by fullback Tim Nanai-Williams came from a superb long pass in the midfield by the biggest center around, Simon Lemalu.
He seems to be that type of a player. Lemalu, despite being a front rower, was one of the top try scorers for Counties last season too, so clearly loves to get involved in the looser side of the game. He also happens to have a fantastic beard.
This clip is of an hilarious tackle he made late in the match on scrumhalf Jonny Legg, who I’m pretty sure wasn’t sure what hit him. As one of the commentators said, he needs a cape.
Great stuff. Incidentally, Counties player/coach Umaga won’t be playing this weekend as he’s being rested as per their agreement of allowing him to sit out every three or so matches. They’ve got nothing to worry about though, as I’m sure Lemalu will fill his spot in the midfield.
