Lyon centre Charlie Ngatai finished off a wonderful counter attack against Brive during Saturday’s Top 14 hammering at Stade de Gerland.
The house side won a Brive lineout deep inside their own half and Fijian winger Josua Tuisova bulldozed his way over Georgia fly half Tedo Abzhandadze to put number eight Jordan Taufua into a bit of space.
The former Crusaders star then found playmaker Léo Berdeu and the ball was transferred to Tavite Veredamu who carried 20 metres down the touchline before setting up Ngatai up for the try, running over Brive’s Abzhandadze for a second time.
This was Lyon’s first try of the game and set them en-route to a dominant 41-0 win to leave them fourth in the French domestic league after 12 rounds.
Ngatai, 31, made more than 50 appearances for the Chiefs where he earned his solo appearance for the All Blacks in 2015 before moving to France three years later.
