Glasgow Warriors controversially released the club’s new badge ahead of next season today, which has been met by a lot of criticism from fans.
Rebrands like this are invariably met by disapproval, with the majority of Glasgow fans questioning why the change was necessary.
The club have emphasised that the old badge was 23 years old, and it was time for a change, and this has been reiterated by some of the players. Scrum-half Ali Price was in support, saying that the new badge “doesn’t change the values and culture of a wonderful club” on Twitter.
While the club themselves have released a number of videos and media to support their rebranding.

Alongside Price, current player/coach Petrus du Plessis has compared the new badge to departing fullback Stuart Hogg’s hair. The Scotland international made a radical change to his hair a few months ago, dying it blonde, where he received his fair share of ridicule. But “A week later it’s the norm”, according to du Plessis.
It’s like when @StuartWHOGG_ peroxide his hair… Got loads of sh*t but secretly people loved it! A week later it’s the norm! We believe in our badge! 😘

As is the case with many rebrands, it may take a while for fans to grow accustomed to it.
