After plenty of speculation, Gloucester Rugby has finally confirmed that 32-year-old prop, Fraser Balmain will be joining Gallagher Premiership heavyweights Saracens ahead of the 2024/25 season.
First reported by RugbyPass, Balmain has expressed his enthusiasm surrounding the change, telling the Saracens website:
“I’m really looking forward to joining Saracens, and am very excited for a new challenge!”
Director of Rugby Mark McCall is also extremely happy to be welcoming his new man to StoneX Stadium, saying:
“Fraser is a player with plenty of experience and we are excited to see him add his quality to the squad for next season. He is very well respected across the league and we believe he can have a very strong impact here at Saracens.”
Balmain moved to Gloucester from Leicester Tigers before the 2017/18 season and quickly became a key player, making over 100 appearances in his seven years with the club.
Gloucester director of rugby, George Skivington, thanked his leaving front man, adding:
“Fraser has played a big role for us in his time here and we are grateful to his contribution in Cherry & White.
“We do, however, recognise it’s a good opportunity and a new challenge for him at this stage in his career, and he departs with our best wishes and thanks for his time at Kingsholm.”
