The French second division was welcomed back with high spirits at Stade Jean Dauge on Thursday night. Bayonne and Agen were both relegated from last year’s Top 14, however, none of that seemed to matter as hosts Bayonne came out winners in front of a packed stadium.
Tries for the hosts went to Uziar Cassiem, Maxime Lafage, and Matthew Luamanu. However, none were more outstanding than Arthur Duhau’s score in the final 10 minutes. The fullback was the beneficiary of a brilliant save from a leaping Remy Baget.
Sharks flyhalf throws ridiculous 40m no-look pass to set up his winger
Fly half Maxime Lafage found just the right amount of touch with his cross-field kick to give winger Remy Baget a chance to make a play on the ball as it bounced in goal and over the dead-ball line.
Baget then batted the ball back in play to a spot where only Duhau was able to field it for the score.

WATCH: 25 insane passes and offloads which completely undid some of the game’s best defences
The win is a step in the right direction for Bayonne. However, Agen will have to look to the next round for the win that has eluded them throughout last year’s entire Top 14 season.
