Rugby is known for certain values, in particular the respect shown to match officials on and off the field. So when the following scenes appear in our game it’s disappointing to say the least.
In Saturday’s Challenge Cup match between Pau and the Cheetahs, the match ended with a rather unpleasant altercation between referee Sam Grove-White and Pau head coach, Sébastien Piqueronies.
Clearly upset by his teams losing score line, Piqueronies took it upon himself to approach the referee to express his displeasure.
Not content with just verbally attacking the Scottish referee, the head coach visibly grabbed his armed and pushed him away in scenes the commentators described as ‘bizarre’ and ‘unnecessary’.

As a result of these actions, Piqueronies has been cited and will now potentially face some very serious consequences.
