Rugby World Cup-winning winger Makazole Mapimpi captured the hearts of Rugby fans the world over during South Africa’s run to the 2019 title.
A prolific try scorer, Mapimpi was a key cog in the Boks’ impressive strike attack throughout their 2019 campaign. Scoring the first ever Springbok try in a World Cup final, Mapimpi etched his name in the history books.
Four years removed from that glorious day in Tokyo, Mapimpi is removed from World Cup action, having sustained a brutal injury to his cheekbone during the pool stages.
Whilst he may be removed from action, the 33-year-old has certainly not been forgotten by Bok fans.
Highlighting his popularity in South Africa, a superb video has been doing the rounds on social media.
Spotted out shopping, Mapimpi gets serenaded by a handful of adoring fans in a touching moment.
Although there is no doubt that the 33-year-old would rather still be in Paris preparing for a World Cup semi-final, moments like these will no doubt bring a smile to his face.
