Highly touted Springbok backrow Evan Roos has put pen to paper with his hometown team the DHL Stormers with a new deal that will keep him in Cape Town until at least 2027.
The 24-year-old former Paarl Boys High standout burst onto the scene for the Stormers when he returned from the Sharks in 2021.
Since then he has gone on to win 50 caps for the BKT URC side and was a key member of their title-winning team in the 2021/22 season.
Discussing the re-signing of his star player, Stormers director of rugby John Dobson said, “Evan has been simply sensational since joining us three years ago and at just 24, there is still plenty more to come from him in a DHL Stormers jersey.
“He brings physicality, pace and most of all a fantastic attitude to everything he does and we look forward to watching him continue to grow in our system.
“These extensions and a few more that will be announced soon show that the key players in this squad are committed to our vision and have bought-in to build something special over the next few years, which is very exciting,” he said.
For his part, Roos is equally excited at the prospect of remaining with the Stormers for another three years.
“My rugby career has been transformed here at the DHL Stormers and playing for this team means a lot to me.
“We have still got so much that we can achieve together and I want to play a central role in the future success that is to come,” he said.
