When it comes to sporting superpowers, the USA are generally right up there. With a population of almost 335 million people, the talent pool is there to be seized.
Fortunately for the current rugby superpowers, the USA pool has never really been utilized for our game. Meaning that the Southern Hemisphere sides of New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa have been able to effectively dominate the game since its creation.
Certainly in recent times with the introduction of new coaching and playing techniques, the Northern Hemisphere sides have stepped up some serious levels. In the Summer tests, they established themselves as being on a completely level playing ground with their Southern Hemisphere rivals.
This being said, should the USA decide to turn their heads to rugby, there could be a genuine shift in the global powers. With plenty of aging superstars now playing their trade over the pond, rugby is now becoming a sport that is becoming impossible to ignore.
