Antoine Dupont was back in action this weekend, as he helped his side Toulouse defeat two-time Top 14 winners, Clermont, 48-14 in a scintillating match at the Stade Ernest-Wallon.
This was the first time we’ve seen Dupont in 15s action since last season’s Top 14 final against Bordeaux. Much like his last appearance in the black and red of Toulouse, his side took the ascendancy as they continued their dominance of French and European Rugby.
Taking to the field in the 44th minute, Dupont quickly made his impact felt following some intense Toulouse pressure, by dotting the ball over the line from close range. His second try came off the back of some loose backs play in which Dupont once again found himself in the right place at the right time to collect and score.
It was the final try of the afternoon that set the crowd alight, however, when latching on to a wonderful breakaway from Italy’s own, Ange Capuozzo. The little Italian broke through a disjointed Clermont defence before spotting acres of open space in the backfield, kicking the ball well ahead for Dupoint to run onto.
